Andrew Jackson – military hero, statesman, lawyer, planter and seventh president of the United States – was renowned for his gracious hospitality at his beloved Hermitage. The Hermitage Nashville Tennessee was the home of President Andrew Jackson when he left the White House.
Today, the tradition continues. A completely new tour, guided by costumed historical interpreters, weaves tales of Jackson’s colorful and controversial life, stories of his family and the slaves who lived and worked here.
The tour is highlighted by the complete restoration of the mansion that appears just as Jackson would have seen it in 1837 upon leaving the White House.
Tours also include the newly refurbished Tulip Grove mansion. This unique tour of the 1836 home of Jackson’s nephew traces the building’s architectural changes under various owners and the steps taken to preserve a historic home.
Also on the tour are a film, museum, church, formal garden, Jackson’s tomb and the original log cabins.
